History

In 1999, Osceola County, a group of approximately forty (40) publishing companies and Street Outdoor began discussions on developing a first-class, advertising-supported modular newsrack program to be implemented in conjunction with the West 192 BeautiVacation Project from Hoagland Boulevard on the east to Black Lake Road on the west.

From 2002 to 2007, Street Outdoor secured an agreement with Osceola County, aided by the support of the West 192 BeautiVacation Advisory Board, and interacted with the Florida Department of Transportation to secure permits for the project. Street Outdoor, working with Osceola County and the West 192 BeautiVacation Advisory Board, installed the first of several prototype modular newsrack locations on County right-of-way.

In late 2007, Street Outdoor secured FDOT permits and installed 21 modular locations. Additional locations were added in 2008 to complete the transition of publications from single newsracks to Street Outdoor advertising-supported modular newsracks.

From 2010 – 2012, Street Outdoor added 21 additional newsracks both west of I-4 and east of Hwy. 535 and currently has over 50 newsracks serving the businesses and publishers in the 15-mile West192 BeautiVacation District.
